Mel Lehman Tour Guide

Highlights of Morningside Heights

Columbia.JPG

Morningside Heights is home to Columbia University — and so much more!

Let tour guide Mel Lehman, who holds Masters degrees from both Columbia and nearby Union Theological Seminary, show you some of the remarkable parts of this unique neighborhood. He's a licensed tour guide with 15 years of experience and he'd love to show you his neighborhood!

Besides going to school there, he has worked in the area for 20 years.  So even though we'll only be seeing the outsides of most of the buildings because of the pandemic, with his experience and the help of his laptop he'll help you take an imaginative trip inside several of the closed buildings.

Highlights include:  Grant's Tomb, Columbia University, Riverside Church and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine and yes, if you're interested, the exterior of the restaurant from the TV show "Seinfeld."

We'll also see:  Barnard College, Union Theological Seminary, The Interchurch Center (which includes a stone from the ancient city of Corinth in its cornerstone), Manhattan School of Music, Jewish Theological Seminary, the site of a Revolutionary War battle, and we'll even see the statue of the composer of "Taps" and a restaurant and coffee shop that President Obama visited when he was a student at Columbia.  Come join us!
